The (comic) world will finally find out who the Joker, the iconic Batman villain, really is. The creative team for the Justice League comics, artist Jason Fabok and writer Geoff Johns, announced at a recent DC Rebirth event at WonderCon that the real name of the Joker will be unveiled in May.
The reveal will go down in Justice League #50, after #42 in the franchise featured a sequence in which Batman sat on the Mobius Chair and asked the truth-telling machine, “What’s the Joker’s true name?” He then goes, “No. That’s not possible.”
Justice League #50 comes out on May 25. Of the reveal, Johns said, “The answer probably won’t be an answer people predict.”
Although the Joker’s backstory has long been a mystery, the villain has been portrayed by Cesar Romero, Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger and Mark Hamill, among others. Jared Leto will portray the Joker in Suicide Squad this August.
