Legends of the Hidden Temple, the Nickelodeon game show that somehow only ran from 1993 to 1995 despite leaving a boulder-sized imprint on our hearts and minds, is coming back. As a live-action TV movie.
Variety reports that Nick is making a presentation on Wednesday, March 2 that will detail the flick, due in the fourth quarter of 2016. Here's what they've got so for:
"Three siblings must conquer a series of obstacles to remain alive, mirroring the theme of the original game show. ... [The movie] will nod to other elements from the original show, including Olmec, a talking head who knows the secrets behind the temple; the Steps of Knowledge, the entrance to the temple and launching pad for the mission; and cameos from a green monkey, red jaguar and silver snakes, among others."
Legends of the Hidden Temple will star 100 Things to Do Before High School actress Isabela Monae.
Variety also says the previously announced Hey Arnold! TV movie will be a two-parter. News has been bubbling for awhile that Nickelodeon is actively working to revive its '90s cartoons in inventive ways, including a movie featuring multiple franchises, stuff like Rugrats, Rocko’s Modern Life, Ren and Stimpy and The Angry Beavers.
