Mariah Carey has a new series on television, but don't you dare call it a "reality show."

The New York Times reports that the "Infinity" singer has nabbed eight hour-long episodes on E!, which will follow her as she plans her wedding to billionaire beau James Packer and goes on tour throughout Europe and South Africa.

”I refuse to call it a reality show,” she told the Times about the series, called Mariah's World. It's not like, “Here I am, getting my nails done.”

“I thought it would be a good opportunity to kind of, like, show my personality and who I am, even though I feel like my real fans have an idea of who I am. A lot of people have misperceptions about this and that.”

A crew has been filming for two weeks so far, capturing the end of Carey's Las Vegas residency and taking the trip overseas for more shows. Although she wants people to see her personal side, viewers probably won't see too much of her and Nick Cannon's children, Monroe and Moroccan:

“I don’t want to do anything that’s exploitative. They haven’t been filmed at all yet. There might be a couple of moments, but it’s not about making them the stars of the show. They’re too young to make that decision.”
