After scoring four Top 20 hits from her debut album, Title, Meghan Trainor has offered “Nø” as her latest radio jam. The new single precedes the “All About That Bass” star’s second full-length, due out later this year.
Produced by Ricky Reed, best known for hits like Jason Derulo’s “Talk Dirty” and Fifth Harmony’s “Bo$$,” “Nø” finds Trainor experimenting with her sound, blending hip-hop, R&B, pop-rock and bubblegum into a radio-ready gumbo. The confidence of "All About That Bass" is fully intact, however, as Trainor declares "I'm feeling untouchable" as she gleefully waves a gentleman caller farewell.
“It’s a big anthem for ladies about telling a dude, ‘Nah, I’m good—I’m out here on my own, and I’m good with it,’” Trainor told Fuse about “Nø” in an interview last month. “The scene is me in a club, and the dude comes up to me and I go, ‘No no no. I don’t need your hands all over me. I’m good. I’m gonna dance on my own with my girls.’”
Reed, also known for his solo project Wallpaper., executive-produced Trainor’s second album, which follows her Best New Artist win at the GRAMMY Awards. “I was a big fan of Wallpaper., and I was like, ‘If I got in the studio with this guy, it’d be magic,’” Trainor told us. “Ricky really takes the time to listen to every song, even if they’re not his songs, and he takes the time to listen, help me and give advice.”
