Down, the metal group fronted by Phil Anselmo, has canceled its full European tour following the singer's racist comments, the AFP has confirmed.

After giving a Nazi salute and yelling "white power" at a Los Angeles concert in January, Anselmo has come under fire from the metal community. The former Pantera leader has apologized on multiple occasions, most recently writing an open letter about Down's performance being scrapped at France's Hellfest.

"My AWFUL mistake has taken a toll on my reputation, and justly so!" Anselmo wrote. "And my embarrassment is tremendous, because I only have LOVE for people all over this skirmishing earth."

Anselmo has also publicly apologized to his Down bandmates, and suggested that they move on without him. "My biggest obstacle(s) are the over-indulging in the booze and blurting out spiteful, ignorant reductions of the human spirit itself," he wrote. "I will address these issues, head-on."
