Lana Rae Meisner, the wife of the Eagles’ former bassist Randy Meisner, was accidentally shot dead in their Los Angeles home on Sunday night (Mar. 6). The LAPD confirmed the shooting death to Billboard, while the New York Daily News is reporting that Meisner shot herself dead with a rifle.

According to the Daily News, the 63-year-old Meisner called police to report a domestic dispute at their Studio City home on Sunday afternoon. The police took a report and left the house; 90 minutes later, Randy Meisner called the police back, saying that his wife had been shot.

Lana Rae reportedly died in a closet when the trigger to a rifle accidentally went off. Randy was in the house at the time, but was not injured.

Meisner was a founding member of the Eagles and left the iconic rock group in 1977. He and Lana Rae were married in 1996.
