Zendaya is making big career strides in 2016, as she scored a key role in Sony and Marvel's upcoming Spider-Man reboot. There is no word of what character the singer/actress will be playing, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, it will not be a leading role.

She joins cast mates like British actor Tom Holland (who will be playing Peter Parker) and Marisa Tomei (who is portraying Aunt May).

The as-yet-untitled Spider-Man remake will be directed by Jon Watts and produced by Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal. Prior to its July 7, 2017 release, Spider-Man is set to make an appearance in Captain America: Civil War (out this May).

Along with the new role, Zendaya is also planning to follow up her 2013 self-titled album with a sophomore record. Click here to read our spotlight on the singer as part of our Future Black History Month feature.
