Caitlyn Jenner, the most visible transgender woman in the entertainment industry, is set to join the cast of Transparent next season, reports the Associated Press. The show's creator and executive producer, Jill Soloway, noted during the GLAAD Media Awards on Saturday evening that Jenner will be filming scenes as early as next week, but couldn't reveal much else about the news, which she called "a dream come true."
Soloway said that there's "lots of crossover" between the transgender crew members of Jenner's show I am Cait and those working on Transparent. Convincing Jenner to appear on her show was quite easy, says Soloway, because "we are all part of the same community."
The GLAAD Awards, which honor representation of LGBT groups in Hollywood, saw both I am Cait and Transparent recognized. Buzzfeed notes that Transparent won the award for best comedy series, while Jenner's show tied with I am Jazz in the category of outstanding reality program.
