Desiigner’s debut single “Panda” made it’s first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The New York City rapper brought an end to Rihanna’s nine-week rule with “Work” featuring Drake.
This is a major success on Desiigner’s part on many levels. For one, according to Billboard, he’s the first American artist to top the chart since Wiz Khalifa’s single “See You Again,” which was 41 weeks ago. Additionally, Desiigner is the first rapper to hit the No. 1 spot with a debut chart entry since Iggy Azalea. He’s also currently the youngest male artist to top the Hot 100, the last artist being Chris Brown with “Kiss Kiss.”
Elsewhere on the chart, Drake’s “One Dance,” which features WizKid and Kyla, rises to No. 3 from being No. 13. Fifth Harmony are similarly on the rise, moving to No. 6, one position higher than before.
