Father John Misty is a big fan of romance—his latest album, I Love You, Honeybear, is chock full of adoring sentiments and loving odes—and he took it one step further with a super intense cover of a Nine Inch Nails favorite onstage.

Last night at Chicago's Riviera Theater, Father John Misty languidly introduced this cover as his "favorite love song," calling the industrial banger a "little sappy" before the iconic drumbeat kicked in. Nothing says true affection like the rocker belting out "I WANNA FUCK YOU LIKE AN ANIMAL" before tearing the chorus apart.

Father John Misty has been up on his covers lately: He recently tried his hand at Rihanna's sultry "Kiss It Better," and caused a stir when he covered Ryan Adams' cover of Taylor Swift's 1989 in the vein of the Velvet Underground last fall. (If you need a sec to digest that, it's cool, as that's a lot rolled up in "Blank Space," etc.) Given the man's insane vocal abilities and his excellent showmanship, it's easy to see why he can take on a variety of different styles and make well-known hits of any genre his own.
