We’ve all been there: We’ve been petty with our exes, once or twice. Ciara and Future, however, are knee-deep into the pool of pettiness… and this week was a turn for the worse.

Future and Ciara called off their engagement admits reports of Future’s infidelity in August 2014, and both were gracious about the split at first, at least publicly. Ciara told Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club that it “clearly didn’t work out,” while Future later claimed they “grew apart.”

Two years later, both are reportedly serving each other with lawsuits for their pettiness. It’s time… for a pettiness timeline.

August 2014: Ciara and Future call off their engagement. The Pettiness War begins in earnest.

December 2014: Ciara seems to have removed the “N” tattoo from her left hand finger. It allegedly stood for Future’s government name, Nayvadius.

January 2015: Ciara hints of Future’s infidelity and lying in her single, “I Bet”: “I’m supposed to believe that it’s Fellini’s calling’ your phone?…I wasn’t born yesterday, not me, can’t get that over me…I would stay if you could tell the truth. But you can’t, no matter how much time I ask.”

July 13, 2015: Future shares details of his and Ciara’s sex life during an interview with Huffington Post Live. When host Marc Lamont Hill asked if he and Ciara abstained from sex (as her and Russell Wilson are doing), he responded with, “God told me something else. He didn’t tell me to wait. I can guarantee that. We prayed afterwards. After we did it, we prayed. True story.” He then mocked her for praying after sex.

July 13, 2015: On the same day, Ciara takes to Twitter to throw what looks like subliminal shots: “Some person is so dishonest and ignorant that they don’t deserve a response. Future more, one’s main focus should be on being a good parent.” Ciara’s tweets could be related to Future’s HuffPost Live interview, or to his thoughts about her choosing to not work with him and Mike WiLL Made-It after the success of “Body Party.”

July 16, 2015: During an interview with Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, Future calls out Ciara for introducing baby Future to Wilson and letting him push his stroller.  Future points out that anyone around Ciara—a nanny, a sister—could have pushed the stroller, but it was Wilson, used for a photo opp: “Leave my son out of the publicity stunts. Just leave him out of your relationship."

August 2015: In an interview with CBS Morning, Ciara speaks out on the opinions of others regarding her introducing baby Future to then-boyfriend Russell Wilson. “I did reach out to my son's father for him and Russell to speak and he didn't want to talk to me,” she says.

December 2015: Ciara allegedly does not bring baby Future to a family Christmas dinner that Future arranged. Ciara says otherwise. A source close to Ciara tells TMZ that “Ciara has never prevented him from seeing his child,” and continues to say that Future’s fuss is to “promote his music.”

January 2016: Future talks foul of a certain ex on Twitter. “This bitch got control problems ... I gotta go through lawyers to see baby future ... the fuckery for 15k a month,” he tweets. He also tweets, and then deletes, “This bitch got control problems…”

February 2016: Ciara files a $15 million lawsuit against Future for slander and defamation. According to TMZ, in the lawsuit Ciara calls out Future for recent remarks via interviews and tweets.

April 11, 2016: Ciara skips over Future’s name when announcing the nominations for the Best Rap Artist category for the 2016 Billboard Music Awards. Thankfully, co-host Ludacris was there to not be petty.

April 13, 2016: In a countersuit, Future claims that while Ciara’s fanbase is “reasonably large,” her “last album” (Jackie) was a “flop,” and notes she hasn’t won an award since 2013.

Coincidentally, late 2012/early 2013 is around the time the two reportedly started dating and working together. Future released the remix to “Sorry,” featuring Future, in Nov. 2012, while Future released a remix to “Turn on the Lights,” featuring Ciara, also in November. Also, May 2013 was when Ciara released her single, “Body Party,” which featured Future and B.o.B.
