Japan is reclaiming their giant monster! A new trailer for Shin Godzilla (or Godzilla Resurgence) has arrived and it is very eerie. Toho Studios, the Japanese company who released the original Godzilla in 1954, will now reboot the franchise without the help of Hollywood.
The trailer is short but effective, as it features the humungous monster looking as devilish as ever while destroying everything in sight. It also includes freaked-out workers and the military trying to take Godzilla down with some intense machinery.
Godzilla Resurgence is the first film from Toho Studios since 2004's Godzilla: Final Wars, and their 29th one overall. Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi, the directors from Japanese manga series Attack on Titan, are behind the project.
The film is set for a July 29 release only in Japan—no word yet if it will premiere in the U.S. or the U.K. In the meantime, Gareth Edwards' sequel for 2014's Godzilla will arrive stateside on June 8, 2018.
