Originally slated to release on Friday (April 29), Zedd and Kesha's new song—a revamped version of the track "True Colors," from Zedd's 2015 album of the same name—leaked a day early. Listen to the song here, via Spin.

Kesha's return to the recording studio was a slow process, greatly hampered by an arduous legal battle with her former producer and alleged abuser, Dr. Luke. The ramifications of Kesha's 2014 lawsuit against Dr. Luke—which has since been dropped—saw a few doors open up for the singer, one of which was the offer of a musical collaboration with producer Zedd.

The duo's collaboration has been expected for months now, with Zedd initially reaching out to Kesha with the offer of making new music in February. It was revealed on Monday by Zedd—albeit somewhat cryptically—that he and Kesha were finally working together: The producer sent a tweet that didn't name names, but provided a snapshot of what looked like he and Kesha behind production boards:

And on Wednesday night (April 26), Kesha confirmed the new working relationship, calling him a "fucking beautiful person with a heart of gold" in an Instagram post.

"True Colors" marks Kesha's first release since her legal flare-up with Dr. Luke reached a boiling point in February. The singer made her return to the stage during Zedd's set at Coachella earlier this month, and will perform at Dylan Fest—a tribute festival in honor of Bob Dylan—next month.
