The untimely passing of Prince is casting a shadow over the second weekend of Coachella, but the reunited LCD Soundsystem's headlining set on Friday night (April 22), paid homage to the artist with a rousing cover of "Controversy." Fan-shot video of the performance shows the festival's main stage bathed in a soft purple light, while James Murphy and company deliver Prince's bouncy funk tune from 1981. Watch it above.

Rolling Stone notes that the festival was rife with Prince tributes Friday night, and rightfully so: Ellie Goulding, Joey Bada$$ and Mavis Staples honored the singer during their sets; prior to LCD Soundsystem's gig, the festival's main screens played footage from Prince's 2008 headlining Coachella performance.

Keeping in rhythm with their Coachella reunion performance from last weekend, LCD Soundsystem also honored the late David Bowie with a rendition of his song "Heroes."
