From creating countless pop masterpieces for everyone from Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears to The Weeknd and Taylor Swift, Max Martin spins gold with just about every pop star with which he writes or produces. But the Swedish hitmaker revealed his white whale he's still trying to catch in the studio: Rihanna.

"I'm a huge fan," he told Billboard of the singer, who has worked with Martin's longtime collaborator and fellow Swede Dr. Luke. "I think that’s how it goes sometimes. We probably haven’t written something that’s good enough. She's doing fine.”

We imagine the reason it probably hasn't happened is because the pop universe would literally explode since our ears wouldn't be able to handle the flawlessness.

In the meantime, Rih's looking to make EDM magic happen again when she reunites with her "We Found Love" producer Calvin Harris for a new track "This Is What You Came For," out on Friday.
