After months of speculation, it's official: Melissa McCarthy is set to reprise her role as Sookie on Netflix's forthcoming Gilmore Girls revival. The actress delivered the news on Ellen Thursday afternoon (April 7), melting the hearts of Gilmore Girls aficionados everywhere.

In the video above, McCarthy details how she had literally JUST been informed of an opening in her schedule, allowing her to squeeze in some time to participate in new shoots.

McCarthy told Ellen DeGeneres:

“There has something I’ve been asked about so, so many times, and it hasn’t worked out. They’re making four new movies of the Gilmore Girls, which is a show that was near and dear to my heart for four years, and we could not get those schedules to work...There was a whole thing, and then I was going to be out of the country, and literally about an hour and a half ago, we figured out that I’m going to go back and do it, and I am so excited! They’re going to be amazing.”

This defies what happened in January, when McCarthy solemnly tweeted that she couldn't join the cast of the reboot, which concludes production on May 10, according to Entertainment Weekly.
