Austin prog-rock group Boyfrndz is returning this Friday (May 27) with Impulse, the group’s third studio album and first since 2014’s captivating Breeder. Take an early listen to one of the more exciting album releases of the month by streaming Impulse exclusively on Fuse:

Since forming in 2011, Boyfrndz has released multiple albums and EPs, and supported artists like …And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead and PALMS on the road. With Impulse, which was produced by Jeff Zeigler (The War On DrugsKurt Vile), the group hopes to continue the momentum of their past releases while expanding upon their intricate sound.

Impulse is such a different record for us,” says singer-guitarist Scott Martin, who forms Boyfrndz with Aaron Perez, Joseph Raines and Ben Livingston. “It was written in a completely different way, in a foreign place [Philadelphia] by a total stranger [Jeff Zeigler]. Personally, I was in a really transitional place. I'd just left a long-term relationship and a company I was working with for five years. Lyrically, the transition and growth really seem to have come through, now that I’m looking back.”

Boyfrndz will support Impulse with a release-day show in their native Austin, and then a short tour over the next month. Check out the full dates below:
