Courtney Love is digging into acting once again, as the rock star will star in upcoming film The Possibility of Fireflies alongside Joey King (Ramona And Beezus, Independence Day: Resurgence). The two are set to play a mother-daughter pair in the drama, which will be a coming-of-age film set in the summer of 1989.
The plot focuses on surburban teen Ellie Roma (King) who has dreams of becoming a writer and finds love along the way. Yet her self-destructive mother Susanna (Love) and metal-head sister are holding her plans back.
Director Deborah Chow shared in a statement,
“We’re so thrilled to secure such an incredibly talented duo in Joey King and Courtney Love to lead this cast. Joey has proven herself to be one of the most talented young actresses working today, and as an iconic rock musician, who is also a versatile and fearless actress, Courtney is the perfect fit for this music-infused story.”
Filming of The Possibility of Fireflies will begin this summer in Canada, and the film is looking for a 2017 release. The project follows Love's appearances in The People vs. Larry Flynt, Man on the Moon, Trapped, FX's Sons of Anarchy and FOX's Empire.
