Justin Timberlake recently dropped a new single in the form of Trolls soundtrack cut, "Can't Stop the Feeling!," so it was only a matter of time until he revealed details about his upcoming album. In an interview with Carson Daly's 97.1 AMP Radio's Morning Show, the singer confirmed that a new project is indeed coming soon.

"I don't know exactly when I'm going to put it out but yeah, I'm definitely working on a new album," he told the radio host. He went on to say the follow-up to 2013's The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2 may find him digging into his Southern roots.

Timberlake revealed,

“Growing up in Tennessee, very central of the country, Memphis is known as being the birthplace of rock and roll, but also the home of the blues, but Nashville’s right down the street so there’s a lot of country music.”

While he didn't discuss any possible collaborations on his own album, the artist did explain how his Trolls song (he calls it a "banger") came about:

“I’m not going to be shy about saying that working on this soundtrack has bled into working on some other stuff for myself. I kind of had been talking with Max [Martin] about maybe getting back into the studio just to get creative and then this project came up and so we just kind of jumped on and tackled it together and ended up writing this, in my opinion, like a banger.”

JT has been spotted in the studio with Little Big Town, and also reunited with Pharrell and Timbaland over the past few months, which fueled the reports that he can be dropping new music at any given time.
