If we were to expect anything less than world-shattering collaborations from a new Justin Timberlake album, we'd be horribly remiss. Fresh off releasing the ebullient single "Can't Stop The Feeling" which appears on the soundtrack for the forthcoming film Trolls, JT is currently on a promotional tour, and confirmed on Wednesday (May 11) that he is indeed working on a new album. To boot, the Pharrell produced project might include a collaboration with The Weeknd.
Talking to BBC Radio 1Xtra, Timberlake revealed that his new album is still a very new project, but that recording is indeed underway: “I don’t know exactly what it’s going to be yet because we’ve just really started, but I like it a lot,” the singer said during the in-studio interview.
Pressed by interviewers about any potential collaborations, Timberlake hinted at doing something with his friend Abel Tesfaye, a.k.a. The Weeknd. The former boy band star noted that the duo "have been talking about doing a collab soon,” before spilling the beans on The Weeknd's new musical endeavors. "He’s working on an album. I don’t know if I was supposed to say that. Did I just mess up something? He’s always in the studio anyway. We’ve talked about doing something together.”
Timberlake's new album would be his first since 2013's The 20/20 Experience.
