Kristen Stewart's Personal Shopper premiered during the Cannes Film Festival, but it was met with some unexpected reactions! According to Variety, the psychological thriller received boos from critics. But the actress cleared the air during a press conference today (May 17), explaining with a laugh: “Hey, everyone did not boo."

Director Olivier Assayas also commented, “When you come to Cannes, you’re prepared. You’re prepared for anything. Movies have a life of their own…people have expectations of a film and then the film is something else.”

You can judge for yourselves by watching the trailer above, which finds Stewart playing an American living in Paris who hates her job as a personal shopper. In the interim, she communicates with spirits in hopes of speaking with her deceased twin brother.
