M.I.A. announced last week that her forthcoming album is finished. While in the studio waiting for her album to be mixed, the Sri Lankan provocateur hopped on Periscope to talk to her fans around the globe.
In her Periscope video, M.I.A. previewed a new song that she said is called “Finally.” From what can be heard of the track, it sounds like a banger that features M.I.A. singing, “I keep it moving forward to what’s ahead of me, you’re gonna see I’m not gonna waste energy.”
Talking to her fans, M.I.A. revealed that her upcoming album will no longer be titled Matahdatah. She has previously tweeted that this will be her “last LP.” In the Periscope video, she said, “I would love to leak it. I wake up everyday thinking I’m gonna leak it.” The only reason she doesn’t is “to find an album where I can actually make my label work for me,” she admits.
“My songs on this album are pretty non-offensive, and if they get offended by this, then I give up and I’m gonna go back to saying what the fuck I want, wherever I want to, even on Periscope.”
