AMC's Preacher isn't going to waste a second before deviating from its graphic novel source material, as this explosive look at the first four minutes shows. We won't spoil what exactly's happening here, or mess up the plans of potential comic readers, but we'll say we're confident this thing will be well-done. Following source material to a T can be satisfying for certain fans, but forging a new path often makes for a better show or movie.

Preacher, based on the 1995-2000 series by Northern Irish writer Garth Ennis and English illustrator Steve Dillon, hits AMC on Sunday, May 22. The numbers should pretty quickly show if it's on track to be a new Walking Dead.

The new show stars Dominic Cooper (Dracula Untold, Agent Carter), Ruth Negga (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Joseph Gilgun (The Last Witch Hunter). Seth Rogen and longtime creative partner Evan Goldberg developed the show with Breaking Bad writer/co-executive producer Sam Catlin, who's playing showrunner.
