Red Hot Chili Peppers will release a new song on Thursday (May 5). How do we know that? Because the band just tweeted this:

The title appears to be “Dark Necessities,” based on the attached image. This is, perhaps, the first single from RHCP’s first album in five years.

The follow-up to 2011’s I’m With You appears to have been mixed by Nigel Godrich, the Radiohead producer who recently joined the Chili Peppers in the studio. No date yet for a new album, although the band is currently scheduled to perform at festivals like Lollapalooza and Rock on the Range.
