After Madonna and Stevie Wonder paid homage to Prince at the Billboard Music Awards, the BET Awards casted shade with a now-deleted tweet: "Yeah, we saw that. Don't worry. We Got You." The ceremony promised an even better tribute to the late icon, and now they have revealed the artists billed for the lineup.

D'AngeloJanelle Monáe, Sheila E. and The Roots will all take part in the tribute. Sheila E., who is a notable singer-songwriter and drummer, was a longtime collaborator with Prince. She opened up for the Purple Rain Tour in 1984 and even lent vocals to a few songs on the album.

The Roots' Questlove actually defended Madonna and Stevie Wonder's tribute in the midst of all the critique. He wrote in a string of tweets:

But the point is let’s not get ugly with playing the ‘Prince would and wouldn’t approve’ game. ....& this isn't *just about* the Madge/Stevie tribute btw. I've been gettin earfuls from in/outside the Purple Circle concerning inclu/exclusions of his estate/work/memorials/tributes who in who not."

The 2016 BET Awards will take place on June 26 at Los Angeles' Microsoft Theater. Ahead of the show, click here to watch some of Prince's most insightful interviews throughout the years.
