Original Story: The man who shot and killed Christina Grimmie after a concert in Orlando Friday night had a specific motivation to harm the singer, police said Saturday.

The Associated Press reports that Orlando Police Chief John Mina said the suspect traveled from another city in Florida with the intention of confronting Grimmie. Mina noted that the suspect did not appear to personally know Grimmie, and may have been a mentally unstable fan.

Different reports have confirmed that the shooter was a 21-year-old white male who had two guns and a large knife in his possession during the incident. Grimmie's brother Marcus was present when his sister was shot, and quickly tackled the suspect to the ground. The suspect killed himself after the struggle police said, and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said in a statement that Grimmie's brother's actions stopped the shooter from "causing any more harm to Christina and her fans." The singer was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital early Saturday. She was 22-years-old.
