Eli Roth is stepping away from the gore and horror to direct Death Wish, a remake of the 1974 classic. According to Deadline, he will work alongside Bruce Willis, who is taking on the role of vigilante Paul Kersey in the action film.
Charles Bronson (The Dirty Dozen, The Mechanic, Once Upon a Time in the West) first made the role famous four decades ago, and went on to star in all of the sequels in the franchise. The final one was Death Wish V: The Face of Death, which came out in 1994.
Scott Alexander & Larry Karaszewski are set for the script, while Roger Birnbaum will produce it. The project comes after Roth's cannibal film The Green Inferno and 2015's erotic thriller Knock Knock starring Keanu Reeves.
