Just before a show in Toulouse, France, on June 2, rapper Freddie Gibbs was arrested by French police.
As reported by French publication La Depeche du Midi, Gibbs is a suspect in an investigation by Austrian officials into an alleged rape committed in 2015. He is still jailed in France, pending an extradition request to Austria. The Barcelona music festival Primavera Sound announced yesterday that Gibbs’ performance was canceled due to “unforeseen circumstances.”

Gibbs’ legal team issued a statement that reads:
Freddie Gibbs adamantly denies the allegations that have been levied against by Austrian authorities. It makes you wonder why it took almost a year for Austrian officials to bring these charges. Freddie will be fighting the extradition request as these are nothing more than trumped up charges.
In response to the arrest, Gibbs' manager Ben Lambert tweeted the following this morning (June 4):
