Game of Thrones Season 6 blitzed us with everything in its arsenal for its first six episodes before slowing the pace for numbers seven and eight. The season's penultimate episode, though—this Sunday's "The Battle of the Bastards"—could easily ratchet things up higher than they've ever gone, as a new teaser trailer hints. Almost definitely speaking of the pre-finale hour back in March, writer/producer Bryan Cogman told Entertainment Weekly:

“[This season contains] definitely the biggest [action sequence yet]. We’ve always wanted to get to a place—story-wise and budget-wise and time-wise and resource-wise—where we would be able to do a proper battle, with one army on one side, one army on another side.”

And Game of Thrones got there. And now we get to go to there.

In the "Battle of the Bastards" preview, of the impending fight to reclaim the Starks' ancestral home of Winterfell, Jon Snow tells his sister Sansa, "Battles have been won against greater odds. I fought beyond the Wall against worse than Ramsay Bolton."

Sansa's retort, paraphrased? You really don't know this motherfucker.

In the event that Snow, Davos Seaworth & Co. fail to take back Winterfell, Snow expressly asks the Red Priestess Melisandre, “If I fall, don’t bring me back.” But with the giant Wun Weg Wun Dar Wun on his side, can't we hope for the best? We'll find out in six probably interminable days, when the arrow-volleying, sword-plunging, horse-toppling 60-minute clash goes down. The following week will see the season finale, "The Winds of Winter," which is the series' longest-ever episode at 69 minutes.
