YG is known for channeling a lot of anger at Donald Trump, hanging out with everyone from Young Jeezy to Fergie, and restoring Los Angeles to the upper echelons of gangster rap prominence.

But he's also the victim of violent gun assault: Last year, an unidentified assailant shot him three times, essentially leaving him for dead in Los Angeles. The episode left YG emotionally wracked and unable to cope with nearly losing his life, so he sought professional help. His first meeting with a professional counselor—something he claims he dearly needed—is the subject of a new Noisey special. Watch the trailer for it above.

While the rapper has been pretty stoic about the whole incident—he told Billboard last year that he's "hard to kill"—the Noisey special should reveal another sign of his psyche. The TV program airs on Viceland on June 12—exactly a year after his shooting was first reported.
