In a recent interview with Florida publication Gulfshore LifeAC/DC’s bassist Cliff Williams shared that he will be leaving the band after the current tour

Williams joined AC/DC in 1977 after bassist Mark Evans was fired. “It’s been what I’ve known for the past 40 years, but after this tour I’m backing off of touring and recording,” Williams told Gulfshore Life. Addressing the band’s lineup changes, he added, “Losing Malcolm, the thing with Phil, and now with Brian, it’s a changed animal. I feel in my gut it’s the right thing.”

Over the last two years, AC/DC have lost a number of bandmates. As Williams alluded to, founding member Malcolm Young left in 2014 due to dementia. Later in the year, drummer Phil Rudd was charged with drug possession and attempted murder. More recently, Brian Johnson had to quit the band’s tour due to hearing loss, after which Axl Rose replaced him.
