Hey Violet, the deeply promising pop-rock group best known as 5 Seconds of Summer’s stalwart tour openers, have announced a new EP and dropped a great new song/video to preview that same EP.
Brand New Moves is due out Aug. 16 on Caroline Records, and the five-song set includes a title track that adds some synthesizer and heightened sexuality to the group’s accessible-as-all-hell sound. Another positive sign: Hey Violet has been in the studio in Los Angeles with Julian Bunetta, best known for his production and songwriting work with One Direction.
"We mixed the tracks a bit '80s style with more synths and drums that sound really fat and big with a groove" says lead singer Rena Lovelis in a press statement. "We're ready and excited to share what we've been working on!"
Hey Violet is still on tour with 5SOS, and plays tonight in Moline, Ill. at the iWireless Center. The international tour wraps up in early October in Sydney, Australia.
