PARIS, FRANCE - JULY 12: Matt Damon attends the "Jason Bourne" Paris Premiere at Cinema Pathe Beaugrenelle on July 12, 2016
Kristy Sparow/WireImage has had fun collecting complete, brief lists of lines that certain non-movie-star personalities speak in film cameos—Rihanna in BattleshipKim Kardashian in TemptationDrake in Ice Age 4Kate Upton in The Other Woman. Now Matt Damon can join their ranks, except as the front-and-center star in a nine-years-awaited return to the series he pioneered.

Yeah: after sitting out The Bourne Legacy in 2012, Damon's back as the title character for the first time since '07's The Bourne Ultimatum. And his character speaks less than he ever has, totaling about 25 lines.

“I think what makes a Bourne movie is the violence and the set pieces, but there’s a tremendous amount of emotionality in the character,” director Paul Greengrass, who helmed The Bourne Supremacy and Ultimatumtells The Guardian (via Slashfilm).

Matt Damon is chill with his voice's tiny role in the big movie:

“Well, I’ve done it three times. In the first movie, the Marie Kreutz character [Bourne's girlfriend] is still alive, so Bourne has a sounding board and he’s more confused about who he is and a lot more chatty. Once she dies in the first act of the second movie, it’s really a very lonely character. And we talked about that mostly on the second one. I remember Tony writing me an email saying, ‘You do realize what this means? You do realize you’re not going to talk in this movie.’ I said, ‘No, I love that.’”

Jason Bourne hits theaters July 29. Watch a trailer below:
