Gamers have been waiting for details on Nintendo's NX, but while there hasn't been an official announcement there has been a leak that gives some insight of what's to come. Yet it's not what you'd expect. According to video game site Eurogamer, the NX will be a portable handheld console complete with detachable controllers.
That's right, it's meant to be for mobile play. The report states,
On the move, NX will function as a high-powered handheld console with its own display. So far so normal—but here's the twist: we've heard the screen is bookended by two controller sections on either side, which can be attached or detached as required.
But have no fear! The console is able to plug into a dock station, so you can play the games on a big-screen TV. And instead of discs, the NX will reportedly use cartridges. Fans of Nintendo hopped on Twitter to voice their opinions, but they're not too happy about it:
I am really hoping this is not true because this is a terrible, terrible, ideahttps://t.co/1ggaRhmLyr— Fiora Aeterna ☄ (@FioraAeterna) July 26, 2016
Here's the rumor for those asking. I know portable is their market strength but a hybrid is a weird niche to sell https://t.co/tR5D6YL6tp— Joshua Wittenkeller (@TheJWittz) July 26, 2016
If this is true then the NX will be even more under-powered than Nintendo usually are. https://t.co/ecdq13fEr2— Daniel Hardcastle (@DanNerdCubed) July 26, 2016
So if the Nintendo NX has a screen and detachable controllers... Will it look more like the first or second photo? pic.twitter.com/1VJDCgtmtV— Benmue™ (@NinBendo) July 26, 2016
