Blake Lively, you beautiful soul with your beautiful lifestyle brand and your beautiful take on societal standards: thank you. The Shallows actor was mid-interview with Australian morning show "Sunrise" when she decided to call out America's obsession with getting fit after giving birth.
When talking about the physical demand that her role in The Shallows required, she and the reporter commented on the post-baby body trend, where tabloids laud women for hitting the gym immediately after having a baby to delete any evidence of the miracle that just occurred.
“It’s so unfair though, because it’s so celebrated,” she said. “It’s like, this is what someone can look like after a baby. I think a woman’s body after having a baby is pretty amazing.”
“You don’t need to be Victoria’s Secret-ready right away because you just did the most incredible miracle that life has to offer,” Lively continued. “I mean, you gave birth to a human being! So I would really like to see that celebrated.”
