It's unsure if New York or California agents are investigating, since the Ghostbusters actor lives in both states, but local police departments are not involved.
The gross invasion of privacy comes less than a month after Jones logged off Twitter in tears after retweeting a slew of racist hate directed toward her. In July, she worked with the social media website to delete hateful accounts.
The Saturday Night Live star, who tweets actively, has yet to comment on the hack. Fellow industry friends have spoken up in her defense:
Do not give your eyeballs to this racist, hate-filled, misogynoir crime. I #StandWithLeslie ❤️— KATY PERRY (@katyperry) August 24, 2016
.@Lesdoggg you are beautiful & talented & bring laughter into a world that desperately needs it. You are also my friend & I support you.— Ellen DeGeneres (@TheEllenShow) August 25, 2016
What's happening to @Lesdoggg is an absolute outrage. Alt right, haters, trolls, "comedians," whoever the fuck you all are, you're just sad.— Paul Feig (@paulfeig) August 24, 2016
I was terrified when I did SNL. Leslie Jones went out of her way to be open, warm, friendly, funny all week. She is a GEM.— Anna Kendrick (@AnnaKendrick47) August 25, 2016
FYI sharing stolen intimate photos like @Lesdoggg 's is illegal. You are participating in a sex crime.— Patricia Arquette (@PattyArquette) August 24, 2016
Do me a favor? Please don't share or view the Leslie Jones personal info/photos. Support Leslie by not supporting the assholes that did this— Alyssa Milano (@Alyssa_Milano) August 24, 2016
