(Re) Assignment sounds like one of the crazier film plots of the year, and we’ll get a first glimpse of it at the Toronto International Film Festival next month.

The controversial drama stars Fast & Furious regular Michelle Rodriguez as a male assassin who undergoes a gender transition against his will by surgeon played by Sigourney Weaver. The film was originally titled Tomboy, a Revenger’s Tale and comes from director Walter Hill, who produced four Alien films starring Weaver.

As The Guardian notes, (Re) Assignment has been criticized by GLAAD for being “sensationalistic” and dismissive of transgender rights. We’ll see what the reception is like when the film premieres in Toronto during Sept. 8-18.
