Yes, Abe helped preview the 2020 summer games in Tokyo by emerging from a green pipe after being transformed into the lovable video game plumber. Abe came out holding a red ball and wearing a red cap, which he promptly waved to the crowd.

According to CBS, a Tokyo 2020 organizer came up with the Super Shinzo idea during a brainstorming session. Nintendo was asked by the Japanese government for permission to use the iconic character during the stunt.
