What if love, time and death weren’t just things that every single human experienced, but actual humans, too? That’s the question that Will Smith must ask himself in the Collateral Beauty trailer, which chronicles a grieving father searching for answers. It'll surely uplift us all this holiday season.

During a particularly hopeless period, Smith’s character, Howard, is greeted by Death (Helen Mirren), Time (Jacob Lattimore) and Love (Kiera Knightley), personified. His friends (Edward Norton, Kate Winslet) think he’s daffy, but we know he’s not! Will the Ghosts of Everyday Life help Howard overcome his despair and once again embrace life?

David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada, Marley & Me) directed the poignant drama, due out on Dec. 16. The film follows Suicide Squad as Smith’s latest box office smash, and last year’s Concussion as potential Oscar bait.
