What if The Wolf of Wall Street was about gold and starred Matthew McConaughey, only not hot? We'll find out this Christmas with Gold. Kicking off in 1988, the flick details Kenny Wells, a schemer with a plan to hit Indonesia and scoop up a bunch of what the ol' Periodic Table calls Au.

Wells winds up with "the largest gold find of the decade"—valued at over $30 billion—and in a commensurate amount of trouble. The movie is based on a true story and also features Bryce Dallas Howard, Edgar Ramírez and Corey Stoll.

Gold comes from Syriana writer/director Stephen Gaghan, who also wrote Traffic. On script duties were Patrick Massett and John Zinman, who worked together on Friday Night Lights and The Blacklist.
