Not content to rest on its Stranger Things/Fuller House laurels in 2016, Netflix will unveil its most ambitious scripted series ever in November. The Crown captures a young Queen Elizabeth II ascending to power, and its first full trailer has arrived.
Even aside from Claire Foy playing a fresh-faced ruler and John Lithgow, Matt Smith and Jared Harris appearing as historical supporting players, The Crown boasts an unbelievable pedigree. The series—which comes with a $130 million budget—was created and written by Peter Morgan, the British playwright responsible for Frost/Nixon and the 2006 Oscar winner The Queen. Stephen Daldry (The Hours, The Reader) is on board to direct.
The series, which begins with a 25-year-old Elizabeth dealing with the death of her father, will chronicle six phases of her life over six seasons, if all goes according to plan. The first season premieres in full on Nov. 4.
