Update: Writer/director James Gunn has shared the first Guardians of the Galaxy 2 footage, too! On Twitter he wrote, "So the 1st #GotGVol2 trailer is coming soon; in the meantime we put together this special sneak peak for you." Feast your eyes on the 86-second bit of glory above, then scroll onward for the badass poster.

Original story: "Obviously." That's all the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 poster wants you to know. Well, that, the title, the reminder this is a Marvel Studios joint, and the fact that your heroes are total badasses even in black-and-white.

The debut poster for the sequel, due May 5, 2017, came courtesy of writer/director James Gunn's Facebook. What is the obviously though? Like, "obviously this squad is the shit"? "Obviously there was gonna be a Guardians of the Galaxy 2"? Probably that one...

If you're feeling rusty or you're a total newb, up there you're looking at, from left to right:

–Karen Gillan as Nebula
–Michael Rooker as Yondu
–the Bradley Cooper–voiced Rocket Raccon
–Zoe Saldana as Gamora
–the Vin Diesel–voiced Groot (tiny edition)
–Chris Pratt as Star-Lord
–Dave Bautista as Drax

Over the weekend, Gunn said he's—ahem—gunning for a Nebula standalone movie, telling a fan on Twitter that "it's something I've thought about from the beginning."

Marvel's official description for the sequel goes like this:

"Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand."
