What a day for Disney. First Ice Cube becomes Fagin in a new Oliver Twist musical, then Kevin Hart becomes Santa Claus. If the company locks up these Dashing Through the Snow negotiations, that is.

The Hollywood Reporter says the family Christmas movie is being produced by Will Packer, who worked on Hart's Ride Along as well as Straight Outta Compton. Packer adores eggnog season, having produced 2007's This Christmas and next month's Almost Christmas. There's no director for Dashing Through the Snow yet.

THR describes Dashing Through the Snow thusly:

"The story tells of a New York City detective who is a workaholic and has a strained relationship with his son. The only thing that may be able to repair the father-son relationship is the one true Santa Claus who has to make the man believe in Christmas magic. ... Liar Liar and Elf have been said to be the tonal watchwords."

The phrase "tonal watchwords" has only ever appeared on the internet four times.
