'Underworld: Blood Wars' Trailer Is Pretty 'Game of Thrones'-y

On Jan. 6, the Underworld franchise is back with Blood Wars, its fifth installment since debuting in 2003. The previous flick, Underworld: Awakening, was by far the series' highest-earning entry with $160.1 million globally.

Tobias Menzies (Edmure Tully on Game of Thrones) is the new big bad this time, playing Marius. His Thrones cast-mate Charles Dance is also joining the saga. Ann Foerster, a TV director with credits on Outlander and Criminal Minds, becomes Underworld's first female director. At a New York Comic Con event on Friday, lead actress Kate Beckinsale said:

"I’m all about as many vaginas being involved as possible. Who doesn’t love those! ... I don’t think that gender has anything to do with whether you’re a good director or a bad director… I’m hoping in a few years the conversation about having a female director being unusual will be unusual.”
