Nelly Furtado is officially solidifying her musical return with new single "Pipe Dreams," premiered today via The Fader. The track will appear in March 2017 on The Ride, her first album in four and a half years. She muses about an alternate fantasy life, singing "Don't sell me no pipe dreams, I want to live in a kaleidoscope" over a minimal, gospel-tinged production. Stream it below:
The organ-laced "Pipe Dreams" continues Nelly's musical experimentation, where she strays further away from the urban pop sound that many got accustomed to, thanks to 2006's Loose. The artist described her upcoming album's sound as "modern pop-alternative" and revealed John Congleton produced the entire record, whom St. Vincent introduced her to.
