On Dec. 5, HBO will open the floor to the transgender community for The Trans List, a documentary from filmmaker and portrait photographer Timothy Greenfield-Sanders (The Black List Vols. 1-3, The Latino List, The Women's List) consisting largely of 11 interviews conducted by journalist and activist Janet Mock. "We fight to be seen without compromise," she says in the opening moment of the new teaser, above.
“I am endlessly impressed with her," Greenfield-Sanders said of Mock in September. "She’s a spirited, brilliant, thoughtful, thought-provoking person. I am lucky to know her.” He adds that she “brought a level of comfort” to the conversations.
Laverne Cox, the Emmy-nominated Orange Is the New Black and Rocky Horror Picture Show remake actress, closes the clip by saying, “We live in a world that tells so many people that they’re not enough. I’m here to tell you that you are.”
The Trans List's interviewees are also part of Identity, Timothy Greenfield-Sanders 151-piece exhibit at L.A.'s Annenberg Space for Photography. For more on the documentary, check out The Hollywood Reporter's review from this past June's Provincetown Film Festival.
