Avenged Sevenfold are feeling super ambitious right now. After debuting their new album The Stage with a 3D, 360-degree virtual reality livestream performance, the guys are hitting the road with some of Cirque du Soleil's production sorcerers.
Frontman M. Shadows tells Team Rock that the show "that's being built is different for us, different for anyone I've ever seen."
Shadows says the Cirque-y Avenged Sevenfold live scheme will lead to "different types of touring," with a two weeks on/two weeks off setup rather than a standard months-long trek, eventually leading a longer overall string of concerts. He goes on:
"A lot of bands live, breathe and die the 2016 metal scene, but we just live in our own world and try to do things different than everyone else. I don't ever feel like we fit in. We're going to be whatever we feel is right, and if it changes the industry, then great."
Team Rock adds that A7X will "consider restructuring entire venues to realize their vision." Holy crap.
The Stage, the band's seventh album, dropped in October, making history by becoming the first rock/metal project to get a surprise release in physical and digital formats on the same day. Featuring Neil deGrasse Tyson and a 15-minute song, the record followed 2013's Hail to the King.
