Beyoncé's 'Daddy Lessons' Rejected by Grammys Country Committee
Beyoncé's "Daddy Lessons" has country and folk influences; she performed the single at the CMA Awards with the Dixie Chicks; she was born and raised in Houston. But somehow the 2017 Grammy country committee doesn't think it was worth a country nomination. According to the Associated Press, they rejected the singer's submission of the Lemonade highlight.
If it were to be considered, "Daddy Lessons" would have been eligible for Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance nominations. Beyoncé is already up for nine awards including Record of the Year for "Formation" and Album of the Year for Lemonade, setting a record as the first artist to earn nominations in the pop, rock, R&B and rap categories in the same year.
