In the night, a Chance the Rapper Christmas project fell from the sky like a big batch of glittery snow. A nine-song mixtape with JeremihMerry Christmas Lil' Mama runs 32 minutes and features Noname (of Fuse's Best Mixtapes of 2016 list, same as Chance), producer Zaytoven and comedian Hannibal Buress, who gets to do some Auto-Tuned workouts on the word "Jesus" at the end of the first track. ("I swear to god, if you leave my raw vocals like that, we're not friends anymore. Auto-Tune my shit and put them...put them Travis Scott effects on my shit.")

Early highlights: Jackson 5's "I Want You Back" gets heavily worked into "Stranger at the Table." "Chi Town Christmas" has Chance rapping about his previously impossible seven Grammy nominees. One track's chorus is, "I should've left you back in 2016"; another gives us some melodies from *NSYNC's "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays."

It's fitting that Chance, who inspired us all year with his giving spirit, and who upped hip-hop's gospel quotient tenfold with Coloring Book, give us some holiday joy. The 23-year-old's previous collaborative releases were Donnie Trumpet & the Social Experiment's Surf album and the Free: Based Freestyles Mixtape with Lil B.

Jeremih and Chance appeared together with Big Sean on "Living Single" this week. Jeremih previously jumped on Chance's "Summer Friends" and "Somewhere in Paradise."
