Whether we need another Disney live-action remake, a Cruella de Vil movie is well under way. The film, reportedly set to feature Emma Stone in the title role, is close to landing Alex Timbers as the director, according to Deadline.
If you need your memory jogged, Timbers is the same person behind the Amazon series Mozart in the Jungle, which just landed a Golden Globe nomination for Best Television Series. He's also been Tony-nominated twice.
Not too much else is known about the film, estimated for release in 2018, but it will most likely be an origin story, rather than a retelling of 101 Dalmatians. Glenn Close famously played the villain in the 1996 live-action version of 101 Dalmatians, the animated classic from 1961.
